Neville Ware - Oamaru Stone Sculptor

For me, sculpture is an artform which provides unlimited scope for creating 3-dimensional images. There are no ‘rules’ or disciplines which must be adhered to and consequently the end result is ‘freedom personified’. Themes for my works are influenced from nature’s ‘tapestry’, my own visions/whims as well as variations on man-made objects. In 2006 I coexhibited at the Farsite Gallery (titled ‘Two into 1’). Also I have exhibited in various local galleries (Oyster, Solace, TheNewDowse, Koru, Cogitate, Naxos, Bay Gallery, Boatshed, Beach House, Roar, and Gallery 1847), as well as the Lower Hutt Library, and entries in the N.Z. Affordable Arts, the 2009 stone-carving symposium at Maidstone Park, Upper Hutt. Additionally I have completed several commissions. Some pieces are now overseas.

Gabrielle Evans - Jewellery/multimedia artist

I am inspired by much of the world around me, collecting visual images and ideas to create new paintings. I am a self-taught artist and have been painting seriously since 1996.

Texture and surface detail play a prominent role in my paintings. My wish is to create an intimate landscape that evokes a tactile as well as visual response. A love of organic materials means that I often use a variety of natural fibres and handmade papers, collaging them into my paintings to give texture and interest.

I have been a member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts since 2000 and have exhibited in a number of their group exhibitions. I have had one solo exhibition, two joint exhibitions and have participated in group shows in Auckland, Napier, Nelson, Wairarapa and around the Wellington region, including two at Pataka Museum. I exhibit in galleries in Auckland, Palmerston North and Wellington. My work is also available for lease through the Art Bureau and Mobile Art. My paintings are in private and corporate collections in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, USA, Canada, The Netherlands, Germany and the UK. I currently work from my own studio in Seaview Lower Hutt. My work can also be viewed on my website: www.artemisia-art.co.nz and I can be contacted at artemisia.art@paradise.net.nz or 0064(0)21 2639527.
